3 Planned Giving Learning Opportunities - Register Now

DAFs, legacy competition benchmarking, and Bridge

Three Upcoming Educational Opportunities

Happy summer! We have three great and, I modestly think, educational opportunities for our planned giving friends and colleagues:

July 11: noon eastern, DAFs Decoded (online discussion)

With the Donor Participation Project, I’ll be discussing how DAFs are fundamentally changing planned giving (and philanthropy in general). We’ll explore the extent to which current and future giving is being diverted to donor-advised fund and how nonprofits can strategically approach their donors with DAFs to maximize mission support.

July 18: 9am Eastern and 9 am Pacific: Webinar: Optimizing Legacy Consideration

With David Cole from Fastmap, I’ll be digging into another aspect of our recent legacy benchmarking research. It’s not enough to know that supporters are considering a legacy gift - you have to know who else they’re considering AND the strength of consideration for your organization vs the other organizations under consideration. Because only one or two will make it in the plan.

We’ll look at actual consideration strength data from:

  • Boys and Girls Club

  • American Heart Association

  • St Jude

  • Environmental Defense Fund

  • Habitat for Humanity

  • World Wildlife Fund

  • Make a Wish Foundation

  • Alzheimer’s Association

  • PBS

  • Disabled American Veterans

August 3, 8:45 am (in person) Bridge Conference

I’ll be speaking at Bridge on August with Amanda Krauss, CFRE, from Sempervirens Fund. I’ll be discussing more of our benchmarking research as well as information from a series of legacy focus groups to shine a light on how the field of legacy giving is changing and how organizations can thrive in this new environment.
